Women education is a sector where particular awareness of the gender dimension. There has been emphasis on increasing the quantity and quality of education by training more women leaders and providing necessary financial tools such as micro-credit for income generation.
As far as Indian women are concerned, globalization is a double-edged process. On
the one hand, majority of women in India find themselves stripped off the benefit of social
security, government subsidy protection of labour rights and than safety nets. On the other
hand there are possibilities of better education facilities and opportunities at the
transnational sense, which are very attractive to the privileged few. It is however necessary
to understand that effective development requires full integration of women in the
development process as agents of change as well as beneficiaries because Indian women can
be utilized as development resources in many ways.
Women empowerment is an important target group of SHGs, and development assistance is provided both Entrepreneur Development programme and Credit. Awareness of women's right is regarded as being extremely important if women are to be able to influence political processes and their own development. We focused on this area and initiated processes for analysis and the sharing of experience with other institutions and organizations working in this field.
